![]() OctoIn 'Freeplane' FreeplaneGTD 1.9.2 released A new minor version of the addon is released, that resolves an interesting issue visible on Freeplane 1.6.1-alpha and later. As far as I can tell, I am a really proficient programmer and seasoned computer expert for 30 years, but this frustrates me. FreeplaneGTD 1.6.2 is now available The new release adds a basic GTD template to get you started. So this is a kind of feedback that his hope is futile. Most probably it was that anybody interested and somehow familiar with Freeplane should be able to happily work along with his tutorial. I could have a look at the source code and try to understand that, but I don't think that this is the intention of the author. ![]() Using the example of Dennis, I could add some tasks below a (copied) new project Work2, but adding some will overwrite others, and what's more, I don't understand what I'm doing. However, the description online doesn't make sense, no matter how I tried. I understand that once you put in the right triggers, the rest is trivial. In particular, trying to get to grips with the sample MyStuff.mm, I have no idea how to use what's given on the settings. Watching his videos and reading the description thoroughly, I do have a faint idea how it could work, but I don't understand it really, it's also more trial and error than anything I would like to do. Thank you very much, Dennis, for publishing your failures. His videos are proof that even an expert investing lots of time and effort is hopelessly lost. He is very brave, but more often than not he doesn't succeed. There are quite a number of videos on YouTube by Dennis G Daniels showing how he desperately tries to find out by trial and error what to do to get the desired results. What do I have to do to make it work for me? Maybe Freeplane|GTD would be interesting, but I can't get a start. Now I am curious if I could do more with Freeplane. So far I managed to do the job I had in mind within a day. Looking into the topic of mind maps and the appropriate software, I got hooked by the videos of Quinbus. If you like the addon, don’t forget to honor the work put into it by donating to the author.Hello, I am new to Freeplane. In about a day I rolled out the first version of the addon and I hope it will come handy to someone. The built-in styles also make the implementation of dotted reference numbering easy. For setting a WBS structure up, all you have to do is add Cost and Duration properties to your nodes, add aggregated properties SubCost and SubDuration that sums the properties of costs and durations.īy adjusting styles, the whole image can be modified to display the web of tasks like a proper WBS. After the initial planning, the tasks can be exported for future use in Excel or imported to actual project management tools like the all-time favorite MS Project.įreeplane is exceptionally versatile, when it comes to handling task properties and scripting. The tasks have names, definitions, resource costs and duration properties.Īs long as it is not used for keeping track of the dependencies of the tasks, it can be easily created using a mindmap tool. It is a great tool for planning and budgeting a project. WBS is a project management technique for representing a project and it’s subtasks in a multi-level tree, where each new level refines the top-level tasks. Nevertheless I decided to see how this could be implemented in Freeplane. I’ve been contacted about my FreeplaneGTD addon, if it could be used for creating and maintaining work-breakdown-structures (WBS).Īs there is a huge difference between what WBS and GTD is used for, I have to turn down the idea of integrating any kind of WBS support into the already quite bloated GTD add-on.
